Hi ~ My name is Danica. I have a passion for all things food, whether it is going out to eat or making my own healthy versions at home. I am an avid Weight Watcher (WW) and have been most of my life. I successfully lost over 55 lbs on the program. My focus is on Eating Clean and enjoying the foods I eat. I love to run, bike, be active and do any type of exercise that does not seem like exercise. My favorite gadget is my Body Bugg which you will see makes a daily appearance. This blog is about my daily adventures in cooking, traveling, eating, working out, just having fun and enjoying life.

Danica, you look great I just joined ww and have to loose 100 lbs!!! I am taking it one day at a time but I must say this is harder then giving birth to my now 23 year old son. I am a foodie and a wonderful cook. With that said I destroyed my old kitchen spent an insane amount of money on a new one and went full force into cooking. Well there was a price to pay for that and I am not talking about the price of the kitchen, yea, it caught up with me and then some. I turned 53 today and I am down 6 lbs,but when i look at the scale I want to scream out COME ON KEEP GOING,like if I could just push for that 1 more lb. Anyway love your site I have booked marked it so I will be here everyday checking in to see what goodies you have in store for me. Thanks, Anne

dainca, i join weightwatcher March4th. i have lost 11lbs in two weeeks. is that a great start? My goal is to lose 30lbs by July. I will the big 50 July 31, i want to look nice. do you think that i can lose 30lbs by than?

HI Arlesia,

WTG on the loss to date. I would definitely say you are doing fantastic and losing above average. The first 2-3 weeks usually yield higher losses then, your body levels out averaging .5-2 lbs a week. I definitely think your goal of July 31st is reasonable. Just keep at it and you will be there in no time at all.

Danica, a friend of mine just told me about your sight. I really am enjoying the format and the information. I was a WW leader, in south Georgia, for 5 years. I loved my people and my meetings. After my mom passed away, I just couldn’t get motivated. I’m a stress eater, and it caught up with me. My manager asked me to turn in my resignation, so I did. I do have some hard feelings about the company but, I KNOW that the program is the only one that works. I’ve started doing the plan, again, as of yesterday, using my old material. I just was wondering if you could tell me where I can find a weight chart. I would like to compare the difference in my daily POINTS. Thanks for any help you can give me. I signed up for your e-mail letter.

Hi Kim,

I am sorry to hear about your Mom and I completely understand your feelings towards WW for how things went down. You have all the knowledge you need to work the program so I say go for it. You can always visit a different WW location if that helps to not go back to the same place as before and helps to get you where you want to be.

Here is a link to a picture of the weight chart. Sorry it’s small but I’d be glad to look up any range you’d like.

Good luck ~ you can do it!

You have done an amazing job. The pictures look great. I am down 86 lbs so far with weight watchers but the last 10 lbs are taking forever. It is a tough journey but well worth it.

I just happened to come across your site and this is exactly what I need. You give out such wonderful information and I can feel your committment in your writing. I plan on switching over to SF you have helped me understand the program better. I will continue to read and learn from you. Thank you so much for this.

Hey Danica,
I know I read somewhere how you figure your points, but can’t remember. Do you use the recipe builder on Weight Watchers or something else.
I think you are amazing and always look forward to your daily email.

Hi Doneta,

I used caloriecount.com to calculate almost all of my recipes. It’s free to sign up and really fun because they actually analyze how healthy the foods are in the recipe you create. You can adjust the ingredients and serving sizes plus save the recipes to go back to later. In a pinch, I will use Weight Watchers Recipe Builder, however, I like being able to see calories, etc. as well.

I am asking permission to use one of your photos in a new cookbook which is due out before Christmas through Strategic Publishing Company from Houston, TX. I am a great cook and a great researcher, but photographer I am not! Each recipe has been researched to include only five ingredients with a matched beverage pairing. Your beautiful photograph would be given credit directly next to it and also in the ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS. The photograph I would love to use is depicting a breakfast casserole . I am not asking to use your recipe, only the photograph. This is my first cookbook and I so appreciate your consideration. Thank you very much. Respectfully, Jan. JO49492@msn.com

Oops! The photo is one depicting a blood mary! Thanks again…Jan

Hi Jan,

I’d be honored to contribute to your cookbook. Please let me know which specific photo you would like and I will email it to you. If you hold your mouse over the picture, it will give you a number. I can find it from there. I am not sure which picture you are looking for as I do not believe I have any with a Bloody Mary in it.

Great site, Danica,
Thank you for all the work you put into it. I have been a WW member since Feb 2010, had lost 82 lbs. but, unfortunately, have gained half back. Still working it tough! Am not giving up. I also feel that my problems started with the program change. I lost my momentum and its been hard to get back to it. Your site has given me some motivation again. Thanks so much!

My husband and I have joined WW twice before and lost weight both times. We just find it very hard to maintain the lifestyle. We live in New Orleans. The food choices are magnificent but rarely fit the WW and they are never on the standard point count charts.

That said, I am determined to make it work this time and eventually transition into maintenance. We have 15 pounds to lose and are both in our late 60’s, and like you we enjoy travel.

Thanks for your blog. The recipes are amazing.
