Love The One Your With…

by DanicasDaily on November 27, 2009

Hi Danica’s readers! My name is Quinn and I am the woman behind My Mantra: Everything in Moderation. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Danica and her husband, Jay, at the FoodBuzz Festival in San Francisco a few weeks ago, and I have to say – she is one million times more amazing than you see on her blog, and I wish them nothing but relaxation on their one year anniversary.

When Danica asked a few of us to serve as guest writers while she was cruisin’ the Caribbean, I jumped at the chance. How cool to write for someone else’s blog?!?!!? But, what to write!?!?!? After seeing Danica with her hubs, Jay, in San Fran it was obvious they had an awesome relationship. As a newlywed myself, I can certainly relate to them. In fact, it has often interested me to see how the other halves of blogger relationships eat. Are they as health conscious as we are or do they prefer to head to the Mickey D’s drive thru while we’re not around? Geoff, my hubs, has certainly improved his eating since we first started dating, but also since I began my blog about a year and a half ago.

He’s sipped the Green Monster

He’s eaten flax seed on his peanut butter toast that I sneak him

He is given turkey sandwiches on whole wheat with light Laughing Cow or avocado in lieu of mayonnaise (blech!).

He eats whole and good for him foods and doesn’t even know it!

Sometimes, however, he thinks we need to make our own blog with angels and devils. My health food would be the angel’s choices and his heart stifling meals would be the devil’s picks.

Here are some of the not so healthy choices he has made over the past year.

But, as my blog states, everything in moderation. And the fact that I get him thinking about healthier options, even when I’m not around is a win to me.

Has your blog, or if you don’t have a blog your healthy lifestyle, made over your man?

Thanks Danica, for the opportunity to guest post and don’t forget to wear your sunscreen while catching those rays!

Ever since I started my new healthy lifestyle hubby has definitely been supportive. He is the cook around here so I’m very thankful for him. We try to eat healthy most of the time but there are times we’ll eat different from each other. We workout together a lot which I love!

Oh and I agree about mayo ick!

great post Quinn!

I know exactly what you mean about the devil vs. angel – Bryan (my boyfriend) eats a lot like Geoff, but he has tried some foods I eat too.

My husband has tried several “healthy” dishes without realizing they are healthy. But he’s also said “heck no” to a few things as well – like Quiona. I made a Quinoa dish, he took one look at it and promptly went out and got himself a personal pizza. Baby steps!
