Two Things

by DanicasDaily on March 20, 2013

Happy Wednesday all!  It was so fun to read how many of you go spinning on my last post.  I definitely think I have been spending too much time on the treadmill because it felt great to mix things up.  Yesterday I took the body sculpting class and today – holy wow! I am so sore from it in a good way.  I really dig that the goal of Body Sculpt is to work as many muscle groups as you can with each exercise.  Why just do shoulder presses when you can do squats at the same time?! The same was true for bicep curls and lunging….each exercise goes for time versus reps.

So today…..I rested!  I actually woke myself up last night when I turned and moved my arms LOL.

Breakfast ~ I am so hooked on Healthy Egg Rolls that my day is not complete without having one. I’ve also noticed the amounts of Sriracha I use each day keep adding up and up.

5 points+ (SF + 1 WPA)

I have been making The Husband protein shakes each morning to go with his egg roll. I decided to participate today by making a Green Banana Shake sans the protein powder!

1/2 cup Trader Joe’s Coconut Milk with a banana, 2 cups spinach and 1 cup ice. (SF) – 2 points+

Deliciousness!

Side note: I find it totally ironic that today is the first day of Spring and it is the first day of rain we have had all month.

Lunch started off with my usual salad base.

Plus a perfectly hard boiled egg…..

1 cup of Vegan Pasta Salad and two mandarins (SF) – 6 points+

Crazy fact ~ The Husband eats these little mandarins skin and all ~ I peel mine!

IMG_3283

I really wanted something salty, crunchy and spicy this afternoon.  I am pretty sure it was because I was eyeing the Spicy Chili Lime Tortilla chips my co-worker brought in for us to share.

Instead ~ I grabbed a healthy snack that I was planning for lunch later this week.

1/2 cup Trader Joe’s Spicy Ranchero Egg White Salad (SF) – 1 points+

Plus 1/2 a serving of Trader Joe’s Salt & Pepper Rice Crisps (SF+ 2 WPA) – 2 points+

My March K-Cup Ambassador Promotion arrived in the mail today and it came straight from the Tiki Farm.

I absolutely love Hawaiian coffee and always make sure I bring back bags in my suitcase. I am so excited to learn that Tully’s decided to come out with their own Hawaiian blend.

Like a well-deserved vacation, this variety is being added as my favorite new K-Cup because some of the best coffee I have ever tasted has been on an island, surrounded by tropical breezes.

You know you can hear the ukuleles playing in the background each time you pop a cup in to brew.

This month’s promotion is pretty fantastic.  You will not only save 15% off everything you order at www.GreenMountainCoffee.com , but, you will get FREE SHIPPING on all orders $30 or more.  Just enter “STOREWIDE8128” when you check out.  This code is good from now until April 21st.

For dinner, we headed over to Panera for a you pick 2.  I was so looking forward to having some spicy vegetarian black bean soup and salad…..

My Two Things ~ NO black bean soup Sad smile and I cannot believe I actually ordered my salad without bacon…..who does that?! Meatless March Success!

Spinach Power Salad without bacon but with all the fixin’s ~ spinach, grilled mushrooms, egg, “fried onions” and Smoky Sweet Vidalia onion dressing. 6 points+ (SF+5 WPA)

IMG_3293

Did you all know you can pick a pickle instead of an apple, baguette or chips? I had no idea until I actually read the menu today.  It’s a sad looking pickle but it was still good.

I picked 1/2 a tomato & mozzarella Panini for my other pick two.  It was pretty tasty – crunchy, tangy, cheesy and I love the contrast of fresh plus sun dried tomatoes.

I am not so sure it was worth 10 points+ though. (SF + 10 WPA)

STATS:

  • Active Link ~ 0 Activity Points, 54% of my goal
  • 31 daily points+
  • SF + 18 WPA, 22 WPA remaining

Tomorrow I head out to the winery for some meetings, to pick up some wine and may end up at The Wurst Restaurant for a homemade Veggie Sausage or Falafel Burger…..I can’t decide which sounds better.

Night all!

Hi Jenn,

I absolutely love it. It’s great as a meal or snack, by itself, on bread or salad or with crackers. They have a chive version as well but the spicy is my favorite.

Hi Danica,

What type of tortilla do you use on the healthy egg roll? They always look so good!

Hi Julie,

I used the Mission Extra Thin Yellow Corn Tortillas that are 1 points+ per tortilla.

I have a question about the green smoothie. You say that the points plus is 2 points. Is that for the coconut milk? I assumed that whenever you add fruit to a smoothie that you have to count the points and the fruits are no longer 0. Wouldn’t you had about 2 “old points” for the banana and maybe 1 “old points” for the spinach? Just want to be sure. I’m a WW member and I had points for my fruit when added to a smoothie.

Hi Robin,

I counted the points+ for the light coconut milk. The official Weight Watchers answer is that you would count the fruit anytime you alter it such as blending it. My personal take is that I do not count it as long as I am not eating more than I would if I ate it whole and I am still losing/maintaining my weight.

Thanks for asking,

Danica

You have got me totally hooked on those egg rolls. I made two last night for dinner. It was 300 calories and totally worth it. I used buffalo sauce though instead of siracha. My 9 yr old asked for one for breakfast because she saw me eating it last night so I made another one for myself too. :) Thanks for the idea.

Danica, Check out “spinning.com”…. They have a great variety of spinning cycles for home use. I’m going to get one, one of these days. Have you ever seen pics of folks in L.A. and NY at “Soul Cycle”. They spin like crazy (as does Kelly Ripa). P.S. Are you in Washington?

Hi Nancy,

Good to know – I will check out the site. I think I was incorrectly tagged in that Facebook post, so no, I am not in Washington. That place they went sure sounded good though.
