Do you “yoga”?

by DanicasDaily on July 27, 2011

Happy Wednesday all!  Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one with a Big Time Freezer Addiction.  Although, I can’t say confessing it helps because now I have so many more ideas of new things to freeze now (like shredded Zucchini, toys & socks!).

You know….it could be worse…I am just trying to be efficient in using up ALL of the freezer space LOL.

This morning started with breakfast since I knew I’d be doing my workout at lunch.

Another tasty Zucchini Banana Nut Muffin (4 points+)

IMG_4957

Vanilla Activia….yes, I totally sang that as I typed it! (2 points=)

IMG_4958

With a side of banana “chips”.

IMG_4956

I actually forgot we were having a catered Meet & Greet breakfast with our neighbors today.  We share our building with Gu Energy!

Check out all the cool Gu-Y-Ness they hooked us up with for stopping by!

IMG_4992

On our side of the building we had fresh fruit, juice, pastries and……

IMG_4961

BUNNIES!  I probably had too many scoops of these, but, what can I say….I am addicted to little orange bunnies and carrot shaped pretzels (4 points+)

IMG_4965

They offered up Bagels & Cream Cheese…..to be a good guest, I made sure I had 1/2 a blueberry topped with 1 Tbsp Light Reduced Fat Honey Almond Cream Cheese (5 points+).

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE the REAL DEAL Bagels? Seriously…..

IMG_4962

My mid morning snacks actually worked out perfectly since I didn’t end up having lunch until late in the day.

Every day I place this cute 4th Street Yoga place and I want to go inside.

IMG_4966

I checked out their class schedule online and decided to take their lunchtime class.

IMG_4967

I absolutely LOVED it!  The instructor was awesome.  I have never been in a class where the instructor walks around and gives you personal attention to deepen your stretches.

I cannot wait to go back….only this time, my goal is to stay  “in the moment” and keep a straight face during Lyon’s Breath.

IMG_4968

Lunch involved the last of our Zucchini Corn Fritters ~ can you believe you get 4 of these for only 2 points+?!  It makes me LOVE them even more!

IMG_4969

I knew I needed some protein to go with lunch and at 5 am this morning a Trader JOe’s Sweet Maple Chicken Apple Sausage sounded delicious ~ it was! (3 points+)

IMG_4971

Side salad topped with 1 Tbsp Trader Joe’s Low-Fat Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette & 1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds (2 points+)

IMG_4977

I have been CRAVING Healthy Nachos ever since I first made them with Tracey.

The SECRET INGREDIENT that makes THESE HEALTHY NACHOS awesome is BAKED Extra Thin Mission Tortilla Chips topped with sea salt.

IMG_4983

Then again, it might have been the tomatoes from our garden!!!

IMG_4981

Spiced up with Taco Bell Hot Sauce ~ it’s in a bottle – not the packets….Open-mouthed smile (10 points+)

Q’s

Do you practice yoga?  What types of classes do you like the most and why?

To date, I have pretty much only taken classes offered at the gym and I LOVE yogadownload.com.  I am pretty excited to add a studio to my list now.  Gentle Hatha is by far my favorite because it’s like getting a massage and stretching out really good.

Night all!

I have only tried yoga once in a class but I really liked it. I have it for the Wii and use it occasionally. I need to do it more though.

I keep meaning to ask you. That spicy peanut dressing you use from Trader Joe’s, how spicy is it? It sounds yummy but I am a little wussy when it comes to spicy. A little spicy I am ok with but burn your mouth off spicy is not good for me!

Thanks!

I LOVE yoga, and the great way I feel after the stretching, but I have yet to go to a class. I’ve always been a little hesitant, but I’ve made it a goal to go to a class @ my Y (once my daughter is ready for an hour in the child watch) , and I’ll be sure to take my beano ;-/

I’ve been doing yoga at my gym for over a year now (twice a week). My instructor is awesome. Depending on her mood, we will do a Vinyasa style workout (I had to look it up since I wasn’t sure what she actually taught). By the end of the hour I’m usually pretty sweaty, I love it. Yoga class was the first time I actually wanted to go to the gym. :)

HI Danica! Your workplace really does sound amazing. Love that you had a meet and greet with corporate neighbors! I do yoga at least 3 times a week. One class is a Flow class, so more relaxation than calorie burning, but the power yoga is a REAL workout. (we call that “sweaty yoga”) Glad you enjoyed your class! (what a lovely setting for your studio). Have a great day. Namaste!

mmm so many tasty things! I’ve been eating zucchini muffins like mad recently. I do some yoga poses to stretch at home but hardly ever hit up a class anymore.

I actually really dislike yoga. =/ It’s just not something that relaxes me or makes me feel good. I’m more of a pilates or cardio girl!

I love yoga! I started with an at-work session and eventually switched to local county colleges and community programs. I’ve even been to a yoga retreat on a ranch in Montana. When the community program I was doing ended for the summer I tried a studio – I’ve done their power-flow and gentle hatha yoga and love them. I even got a Groupon deal with my sister – 5 classes for $25. I always feel amazing afterwards and it has really helped me to make my body leaner after losing 71 pounds last year. It is definitely my workout of choice!

Hi Nikki,

I LOVE that Trader Joe’s Low-Fat Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette. You can find it in the fridge section. I do not think it is spicy at all, not even really mild. It’s more of a sweet peanutty flavor and it’s amazing! I definitely say give it a try because I am positive you will love it!
