Hey all! Thanks for all the nice comments and Chipotle Ideas you shared on my last post. Your comments totally reinforced my commitment to stick with my goals this week. I LOVE that there are so many of you on this journey with me and that we all can relate to, encourage and cheer each other on….so, thanks for that ~ you all help me more than you know each day
When we headed out for the day, I didn’t think I was “really” that hungry. I figured, a Venti Iced Nonfat Decaf Latte with caramel drizzle (3 points+) would be enough.
But, I realized as I stood in line, that I was actually A LOT hungrier than I thought and I needed some protein.
I LOVE getting their Bistro Protein Box because it is mainly comprised of filling foods.
I rarely eat everything in the box in one sitting because it is 10 points+ (still not bad). Instead, I pick and choose what I really want and save the other stuff for a snack another time.
This morning I picked the Egg, Cheese & Fruit for 5 points+ and saved the Bread/Peanut Butter for another time.
The protein fruit combo totally did the trick because I was full for 4 hours!
It’s kind of funny now that I am telling you all that I managed to pack up our lunches, but, bought our breakfasts….eh, at least both were healthy! lol.
Peanut Butter, Apricot Jam-wich on 2 slices Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain. (7 points+)
BIGGEST nectarine I could find in the fridge.
Plus Salt & Pepper PopChips! (3 points+)….
SIDE NOTE….each bag contains 18 chips, but, you could actually have up to 23 chips for the same points+ (just sayin’)
Afternoon snack #1 Cherries & a Trader Joe’s Light String Cheese (1 points+)
We were not having dinner until late so I pulled out these Salt n Vinegar Almonds one of my friends sent me.
These might just be my FAVORITE new nut ~ I NEED to find them!
They are 7 points+ if you eat the entire bag. I shared with The Husband and had 17 nuts for 3 points+.
When we arrived back home we pondered putting the grill together or heading out to Monsoon to use our Groupon & have someone else “grill” for us.
I actually dreamt about this dinner all the way home……
I was so excited……
I forgot my camera…..
All of that doesn’t matter though because……..
I went to a Burger place and made my dinner healthy!!!
Oh and I had my phone…it’s not the same but it works ![]()
Turkey Burger with Pepper Jack Cheese & Mushrooms…..(7 points+)
Then, I tossed the bun and used the toppings bar to make a burger salad!
* 2 types of lettuce
* Tomato slices
* Jalapenos
* Pickled onions
* AVOCADO! (3 points+)
I checked out the points+ for “fried” onion rings BEFORE I ate any and decided it was worth “splurging” on 4 of them to make “croutons” on my salad for 7 points+.
I gave the rest to The Husband BEFORE I ate any so I couldn’t change my mind.
SUCCESS! Dinner was so amazingly delicious, I am re-creating it this week complete with the 4 points+ Beer Battered Onion Rings I found at Trader Joe’s!
Q’s
Have you ever gone to a not so healthy restaurant and made it work for you in a healthy way? If so, what did you order? I LOVE the idea of sharing this so we all can help give each other ideas.
I am all about not being shy and ordering something not on the menu when I want to make something healthy. Most places always have chicken and salads.
Night all!

Those nuts are awesome. Not sure what stores you have in your neck of the woods. But I have found these in Walgreens, Big Lots, oh and Rite Aid. So drug stores are usually a good place.
At TGIF’s I order the turkey burger with fruit on the side At Miguel’s, I eat chips but make up for it by eating ceviche. Sushi, I fill up with a seaweed salad first…muah!
Restaurant veggie burgers can be really good, especially if they make them from scratch. In Lake Tahoe on vacation my husband and I split one that was fantastic and split the sweet potato fries that came with it. Totally worth the points plus!
One way I make my meal at a restaurant healthier is getting veggies instead of fries. I honestly would rather have them anyways! I love,love,love veggies!
p.s. I love your blog too!
I love your burger salad! What a great idea for making it a little healthier. BF has been making a lot of burgers on the grill lately, so I am going to use this idea for sure. Lately, I have been making most of my meals out and at home mostly veggies/fruit and treating the meat as a “side”.
