Soup Fusion

by DanicasDaily on October 18, 2010

Happy Monday all! I am glad you all dug the Friday Treats ~ Those Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups are pretty tasty.  This weekend was AWESOME, but, today’s eats might have been even better.  I might be impartial though since there wasn’t too much cooking on my part involved.

But, first….a few weekend highlights.

I baked up The Husband’s request Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies ~ it was totally a good reason to bust out and use my new fancy red KitchenAid Mixer :D

We also “harvested” Mr. Stripey ~ The Husband’s HUGE heirloom tomato plant.

Mr. Stripey Heirloom Tomatoes

I whipped up a big batch of Homemade Crock Pot Stewed Diced Tomatoes ~ WOW!  All I can say is I’ll probably never buy/use a can again!  Recipe and How-To coming up this week!

Homemade Stewed Tomatoes

We also saw ~ The Social Network!  It was SO COOL~ I honestly never knew there was so much history involved in the creation of Facebook.  It was really interesting ~ you totally need to see it if you haven’t :)   If you have, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT?

Ok, moving onto today.  My eats were not super exciting from a culinary perspective, but, they were just as delicious in every simple way.

Berries ‘n; Cream

Berries & Cream

1/2 cup TJ’s 0% Greek Yogurt

1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup raspberries

Drizzle of Agave ~ MMMMM – LOVE! (2 points)

Raspberry Greek Yogurt

Protein power ~ Morning Star Soy Sausage (2 pts)

Surprisingly breakfast and being super busy at work held me over until lunch time ~ 4 hours!

Last year I became a bit obsessed with Whole Foods Soup Bar because I discovered how AMAZING it can be to mix & match your soups!  Who says you have to have just one flavor when you pay the same price for the cup……Honestly though, I really ended up mixing my soups last year because I couldn’t decide which flavor I wanted :D

SOUP FUSION = Mixing & Matching Your soups because they ALL sound good ~ It is the perfect solution for the indecisive person like me.

1/2 Turkey Chili and 1/2 Southwestern Chicken Chili

Southwestern Soup Fushion

My friend and I shared this AMAZING Organic Ciabatta Bread (only $0.99!)

Ciabatta Bread

I totally ate ALL of my soup and 1/2 that loaf of bread (9 point estimate)

The Perfect Fall Lunch

The Husband declared a Monday “Date Night” tonight which included NO COOKING.  Um, you don’t have to twist my arm when I can have someone cook this for me ;)

10 points and worth every HEAPING point.  I <3 Chipotle & their Guacamole!

We had planned on seeing The Town, but, the next move time wasn’t for 2 hours :/  I think we are going to watch our NetFlix ~ Valentine’s Day.

This week I am hoping to share 1-2 vacation recaps. that Stewed Tomato How-To (it’s so easy) and some delicious new recipes I plan on trying :)

Have you all seen any good movies or are there any movies out there you want to see??  Do tell because I am always looking for fun new things to watch.

Night all!

MAN! Your cookies look SO YUMMY. Soft and chewy…. **wishing I could make cookies like that** ;)

We want to see The Social Network, but I think we’re going to wait till it’s on Netflix. I recently watched Little Miss Sunshine… SO CUTE! …and I thought I wouldn’t like it.

I know what you mean about WF’s… I tried the hot bar (and Indian food) for the first time last monday and of course I needed it again on friday :D The funny thing was my husband was SO hungry by the time we went he got 2/5 lbs of food?! It was SO funny when the cashier was weighing it… So anyway… ADDICTED! To both the hot bar and Indian. Going to need to start experimenting with some recipes. We tried chicken tikka and then I looked up a few recipes and realized why it’s in the ‘comfort food’ section :O …I also tried a lentil tofu dish, which I can’t rememebr the name of (maybe madras lentils), but was SO GOOD.

Woops! Wrote a novel ;) Have a great Tuesday Danica!! -mary
